One of my favorite songs is "Oceans" by Hillsong UNITED. There's a line that resonates deeply: "Spirit lead me where my trust is without borders. Let me walk upon the waters, wherever you may call me." This lyric captures the essence of what freedom with Jesus can look like. It invites us to release control, to trust God fully, and let Him lead us, even into the unknown. It’s a moment where I can feel my heart settle, knowing that I don’t have to figure it all out, but can simply trust in His plan.
These words stay with me, dwelling in my heart. They remind me to constantly invite Jesus into every part of my life—to trust like a child and let my Father guide me. When I do that, when I truly surrender my worries, it’s like the Holy Spirit washes over me, directing my thoughts, my actions, and calming every anxiety.
I’ve been reflecting lately on rivers and what they symbolize. For me, rivers are strongholds—constant, steady streams that are always flowing. They’re powerful, determined, and agile. Rivers overcome obstacles without hesitation. They smooth the roughest edges of rocks over time, and even carve new paths when needed. And I realized, aren’t those the same attributes that define our God?
- HE is Consistent: No matter what season we’re in, God is always there—steady, unwavering, flowing.
- HE is Strong and mighty: Just like a river that can carve through mountains, God can move through the hardest situations in our lives.
- HE is a gentle parent: He guides us, not in force, but with grace and patience, molding us day by day.
- He Transforms our weakness: God doesn’t rush our process. He uses our imperfections to showcase His strength, to make us more like Him.
But here’s where I often struggle: when it comes to finding and living out our purpose, we tend to get stuck. We want to move at our own pace, leading ourselves and thinking we can figure it out. How many times have I tried to cut corners, doing things my way, when God wanted to smooth out those edges? So often, I catch myself pushing ahead of His plan, rushing, striving, when He’s simply asking me to flow.
If you’re like me, let’s take a moment to pause—right here, right now. Let’s reset, take a breath, and pray for patience. Because waiting on God’s timing doesn’t mean we’re standing still. God is always moving, always working, even if we can’t see it right away. Just like a river, our Father is constantly flowing in the background. Waiting on purpose doesn’t mean we’re standing still. God is never inactive. Even if it takes time to smooth out our rough edges, we are God’s masterpiece (Ephesians 2:10). He takes His time molding us and leading us toward our purpose, our ocean. The process takes time. And God is okay with taking His time. He doesn’t rush just because we feel impatient. He’s not interested in shortcuts, but in creating something beautiful and lasting in us.
So, when you feel stuck, remember that God is flowing. You’re being Spirit-led, even when you don’t realize it. The journey isn’t about getting to the destination as fast as possible—it’s about the process of becoming. Trust that you’re being shaped, your edges are being smoothed, and one day, you’ll look back and see that His timing was perfect all along.
Dwell Moment Reflection:
- How have you dwelled in His presence this week?
- What areas of your life need to be surrendered to let God flow like a river?
- Can you take a moment today to pause and trust the process?
Remember, God is never in a rush, and neither should we be. Let’s let Him lead us, trusting that even in the waiting, we are being prepared for something greater.
