How to Cultivate a Home Where God’s Presence is Felt
As we close out Women’s History Month, let’s reflect on the incredible women—both in the Bible and in our own lives—who have shaped homes, families, and communities with faith and wisdom. In biblical times, homes were places of fellowship, refuge, and restoration. It wasn’t about the furniture or decor—it was about open hearts and open doors. When Jesus visited homes, people encountered peace, love, and transformation. That same spirit of hospitality is what we are called to cultivate today.
Here’s how we can create a home where guests don’t just feel welcomed, but experience the presence of God:
🏡 1. Create a Spirit of Peace & Rest
A home filled with God’s presence is one where people feel safe to breathe, rest, and be themselves.
✨ Pray over your home regularly, inviting the Holy Spirit to dwell in every room.
✨ Keep an atmosphere of joy and gratitude—let laughter, kindness, and encouragement flow freely.
✨ Be intentional about creating moments of stillness, whether through soft worship music, a quiet corner for reflection, or simply a calm, uncluttered space.
📖 “Come to me, all who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” – Matthew 11:28
💬 2. Speak Life & Encouragement
More than any decorative touch, the words spoken in a home shape its atmosphere.
✨ Be a source of encouragement. A simple, heartfelt conversation can lift burdens and renew hope.
✨ Listen with love. Sometimes the best way to make someone feel at home is to offer them your full presence—without distraction or hurry.
✨ Pray with and for your guests. Whether spoken aloud or in quiet intercession, let them leave knowing they were spiritually covered.
📖 “Gracious words are a honeycomb, sweet to the soul and healing to the bones.” – Proverbs 16:24
👐 3. Practice Radical Hospitality
Hospitality is about invitation and inclusion. Jesus dined with those who were overlooked, offering them a place of belonging.
✨ Welcome people without expectation—not just close friends, but neighbors, those in need, or someone who simply needs company.
✨ Let go of perfection. A home filled with love matters more than a spotless house or a gourmet meal.
✨ Offer something tangible—a warm meal, a cozy seat, a cup of tea—but also something deeper: a space where people feel seen, valued, and at home.
📖 “Share with the Lord’s people who are in need. Practice hospitality.” – Romans 12:13
🕊️ 4. Invite God Into Every Gathering
Hospitality becomes a ministry when we invite God into it.
✨ Begin gatherings with a simple prayer, asking God to bless conversations and bring peace.
✨ Keep scripture visible—not just in decor, but through the way you live out His word daily.
✨ Let love, grace, and patience guide your interactions, so that when people enter your home, they leave feeling lighter, uplifted, and renewed.
📖 “Where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them.” – Matthew 18:20
A truly hospitable home isn’t about the perfect setup—it’s about creating a space where people encounter God’s peace, love, and rest. May our homes be places where hearts are comforted, spirits are lifted, and His presence is undeniably felt.
Just like the Proverbs 31 woman, we are called to open our arms, extend kindness, and cultivate spaces that reflect Christ’s love. Let’s embrace the ministry of hospitality—not as a task, but as a gift we give to others.
🙏 Take a moment to pray over your home this week. Ask God to fill it with His peace and use it as a place of refuge and renewal for everyone who enters.
With Love,
-Gold
